Gandhinagar, Feb 1, 2020.
In a major environment friendly decision, the Vijay Rupani Government in Gujarat has approved Rs26cr ($m) for 24 major Hydraulic Storage Structure Check-Dams (HSSCDS) in the hilly and tribal Dangs district in south Gujarat bordering Maharashtra.
Though the Dangs forest district receives good rainfall, water conservation is a big problem because of the hilly terrain. According to Rupani, hydraulic check-dams offered a permanent solution.
These check dams will be constructed on Purna, Gira, Khapari, and Ambika rivers and their branches at 24 villages of Ahwa, Subir, and Waghai talukas of Dangs district.
The CM has directed officials to first carry out physical study for the right location, where construction of HSSCD could help in storing water on a long term basis and bring about a solution to the water scarcity problem of the Dangs district.
