Women Empowerment Fortnight 2017 - Legal Awareness Day for Women celebrated at Valsad

A Legal Awareness Day for Women was organised by the Valsad District Police Suraksha Setu Society at Monghabhai Hall in Valsad on August 12. The very well attended and informative programme was organised under the Women Empowerment Fortnight 2017.
Speaking on the occasion District Police Superintendent (DSP) Sunil Joshi lauded the role played by the women Home Guards of Valsad district. Joshi also gave details of the various laws in force for empowerment of women and called upon the assembled participants to make women at large aware of these laws and how women can take benefit of these laws.
Astitva Mahila Mandal Secretary Archnabahen Desai underlined the need for education for women for a better tomorrow. Giving details of the different activities being undertaken by the mandal, Archnabahen said the women of today needs to be lauded as not only more and more women were becoming financially independent but were also running their homes effectively and efficiently.
Legal expert Chetnabahen Davda gave details of the various laws pertaining to women. Davda also gave details about how over the years different laws were brought into force to free women of several practices and systems like the ‘Sati’ practice. She said all women were entitled to free legal help. Legal expert Tanvibahen spoke about different legal provisions pertaining to domestic violence and dowry prohibition act while Shobhnabahen Das and Advocate MG Patel spoke about different rights of women.
Taluka Panchayat President Shivangibahen and Government Pleader Mitabahen also remained present.
