Ahmedabad: BJP candidate from Visavadar constituency in Junagadh district has issued an open threat to police department saying that once he is elected, they won't be allowed to enter any villages without his permission.
The video of candidate Kirit Patel, who is also the chairman of Talala APMC, went viral on Friday. Police sources in Visavadar confirmed that Patel had made these utterances while addressing a public rally on the day he filed the nomination papers recently, a TNN report said.
Addressing the public rally, Patel also issued threats to Paschim Gujarat Vij Company (PGVCL) officials saying that they would have to seek his permission before doing anything.
"If I, Kirit Patel, is elected, we have to put up boards everywhere telling police and GEB (sic) officials that they should not do anything without asking the MLA. We have to tell the GEB officials that they should not enter the fields of farmers without asking us. We have to tell police officials that they must not enter any village without seeking my permission. If they do so, they would be in trouble...their bets (uniform) will be a trouble." he thundered and warn officials in his colloquial language that they could lose their jobs on not heeding to him.
"We have to put up boards telling all that the MLA should be consulted before taking any action regarding law and order," he added.
Patel accused the Congress of bribing the police and GUVNL officials to harass and suppress the farmers in order to show BJP in poor light.
Patel is contesting his maiden assembly election.
BJP spokesman Bharat Pandya said the party is not aware of any such statement by the candidate.
